Insomnia

So here I am again, so freakin' tired but can't get a wink of sleep. Insomnia is truly the cruelest joke of a symptom of CFS. I have done a body scan meditation using the mindfulness workbook and my mp3 player, but have now reverted to listening to Bon Iver and attempting to block out Ben's snoring...I wish I could just get some much needed rest. *sigh*

Hello Livejournal friends,

I am testing out the iPhone app...it seems pretty good? I have caught up on a few entries from my f-list, and it's made me realise that I miss writing on here (as it always does). I love you all.

I am almost a quarter of a century old...it's slightly scary!

Okay, proceed with your day. Thanks for stopping by!

You made my day!

Thanks Ingrid aka [info]dreamofhorses! I cannot tell you how nice it was to come home from a busy day at work and find your lovely hand written letter and zines waiting for me. I am loving the concept and am quite intrigued by these 'zines'. So cool to have someone send you something from the other side of the globe (things that I purchase from Etsy, eBay, ModCloth etc don't count!). A little something from Australia should be arriving at your address in due course, when I scrawl my thanks down on paper (warning: my handwriting is not nearly as cute)!

Oh, the latest frankie issue was also waiting for me at home. Could my day get any better? I think not! Oh wait, I'm seeing Ben tomorrow & I'm baking a chocolate cake that has blackberry jam in it (it sounded strange to me at first, but it's so delicious). I've been a sickly girl of late, but I am super happy tonight. This is what life's about!

I am my hair?

The old:

The new:
Well, there is my 'new' hair everyone. I needed something to act as a bit of a 'pick-me-up' with Ben away at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand this month. Freaking miss him so much. It's a bit ridiculous how in love I am! Sorry, no one likes to read the sop factor on blogs, but I can't help it. He's the best (TB).

What do you think? (Be nice...I'm always nervous when I cut/dye my hair!) I think I will still have to wear it up in a ponytail or bun at work, but shouldn't be a problem since I didn't get too much cut off. Speaking of work, it's quite stressful at the moment. I have SO much to do and I am only ONE person. Keep having to remind myself of that fact...

Hair Dilemma.

To cut or not to cut? That is the dilemma at hand.

My current hair is so long, mermaid-over-boobs-long. To be honest, it's just boring me lately and takes forever to wash and dry. I want to cut about 20cm off, dye it a dark brown with caramel highlights and bring back my bangs/fringe in a choppy, messy kind of style. I'll probably book an appointment in a week or so. Currently searching for hair inspiration on the net.

Luckily, my hair grows pretty quickly and I'm notoriously lazy with regular haircuts, so no doubt I'll be back to this length within a year! (Just sayin' since anyone I tell about my haircut ideas freaks out and says, "Ohh but your hair is so long and pretty...you should keep it long!").

Hair is just hair. I need a fresh look.

Into the abyss!

Hi.

Umm. I just wanted to say - I'm not dead. In fact, life is super duper (seems to be I post less on my blogs when life is amazingly awesome). Also, I am still reading my friends list regularly. Some people have deleted me. That's cool, but I am still here. Special shout out to Ric ([info]moshimoshi23 ) - love reading his entries. If you read this Ric, I may be in Melbourne at the end of the year! Would love to have a "real life" LJ friend and also...I MUST find a decent macaron store and you are the local expert!

So, this hasn't been all that informative to you few readers, but just thought you should know life is better than it's been in ages. I love Ben (understatement of the century). I am saving for a house (spent way too much money this weekend though...but had a blast, so it's a fair trade off, right?). Work is great and I am figuring out where my next professional move lies. Have caught up with so many beautiful people at long last. I'm just really happy, happy, happy. I write immaturely when I'm in these moods, but heck, who careees!

I'm thinking I'll start a "homely" blog at this address when I move into my one-day house! How exciting!

My Bessie.

Today I finally got around to sending an email to K9 Rescue regarding Bessie's progress since we met last year. Here's what 'she' wrote:

Dear everyone at K9 Rescue,

Please accept my apologies as this letter has been a long time coming! I figured now was a good time to give you all an update, as it’s almost been a year since I moved in with my Rachel and her Family! The 22nd of June 2010 seems like a lifetime ago, as so much has happened since then. My Rachel was pretty unwell and unhappy on that fateful day she decided to visit K9, but she is always telling me that everything changed the moment she saw my face!

While I was living at K9, my name was France, as all of our names were inspired by countries participating in the FIFA World Cup. Rachel says I didn’t seem to respond too well to ‘France’, so she and her brother brainstormed on the way home and settled on Bessie. I like it and I always wag my tail when someone says my name!

When I got home I was a bit sickly like Rachel and didn’t want to eat my dinner or sleep in my bed/kennel. Rachel and her Family were really worried about me and the next day (after finding me all wet & bedraggled from sleeping in the rain!) I was taken back to Greenfields Vet for a check-up. Thankfully, it was only a little stomach bug and some nerves after my big move, but the funny Vet joked that maybe I was just upset since France had been knocked out of the World Cup the night before!

After those initial hiccups I have really found my feet here. I absolutely love my other pseudo-mother, Abbey, a 7 year old golden Labrador. She lets me play with her at any hour of the day and makes funny growly-bear sounds when we wrestle. This amuses the rest of the Family greatly, but for some reason not quite so much when it’s still dark outside in the morning. Abbey has also introduced me to the joys of swimming at the beach. At first, I wasn’t too sure about it, but my one true passion in life, has inspired me to face my fears and take the plunge! That passion is the humble tennis ball! I love them and would do anything to get at one. Nothing can distract me from those green bouncing spheres – not food, nor cats, nor other playmates.

I am also learning to play Frisbee with Rachel. I’m very athletic and love jumping high into the air to catch the disc before it hits the ground. The family are always calling me a ‘contortionist’, as I love squeezing myself into little spaces. I quickly learnt that I can leave the property whenever I choose to. One day Rachel caught me in the act of using the compost heap as a springboard. I took a small run-up and sailed through a 12 inch square hole in the fence into next door’s property. I could tell Rachel was a little bit cross about this, but then she just shook her head and said, “Bess, that was too impressive for me to be angry at you!” and besides, I never go far from home – why would I? Life is too good!

It will be my second birthday on June the 9th and I can’t wait to celebrate with my Family and other doggie friends in the neighbourhood. Paws crossed I get a new tennis ball!

Anyway, I think it’s time to go for a run down at the oval. Rachel just wanted me to write to say thank you so much for introducing us. We are the very best of friends. I always know when she’s having a bad day with her health and offer her cuddles and face licks a plenty. I can only hope that all of my other doggie friends at K9 find such loving owners and happy lives.

Love Bessie x

Hahaha that last photo always cracks me up. Not the most flattering photo of dear Abbey, but definitely one that shows how accommodating she has been of her pseudo-daughter!

Hope you enjoyed that little insight into Bessie's life thus far.

After unpicking the shoulder pads from an otherwise adorable op-shop blouse I found last week, I decided to try it on, only to somehow get my hair completely entangled in the zipper. I have no idea how I did it, because I hadn't even unzipped the back or attempted to do it up for that matter. It took 3 people to set me free from my lovely new hair accessory. Ouch!

Sorry for the poor photo quality -  I took this on my phone to warn James of my stupidity before he gets too invested?

Oh! Newsflash: I also finally got a haircut! Maybe this means I'll start looking after myself a little better this year with regular trims to my 'bangs'. No, I'm not American, I just happen to think the word is pure awesome.

Lauren (plus Mum & Dad as accomplices) are leaving this evening. So sad, I won't see Lauren again until November! But I have got sneaky plans to try and see her sometime mid-year if possible. For those of you who are interested, Loz is a tour guide in the Northern Territory and has been back here in Perth/Mandurah on holidays for the past month. I'm going to miss her so much, but I'm really glad she loves her work up there, complete with intense heat/humidity, airboats, crazy guests, crocs etc! You can check out her blog at theadventuresofmelauren.blogspot.com!

congratulations are in order!

just wanted to wish steph and daniel congratulations on their recent engagement! couldn't be happier for them! time for some pics of the happy couple and your pretty ring on your journal eh [info]juice88?!

unfortunately, steph was a bit crook today and couldn't visit me in mands, but hopefully she shall join me for some time in the sun soon. i'm starting to look like a 'crusader bug' with these defined criss-cross tan lines on my back!

had a massage this morning in week two of my treatment program. i always get a bit tired after them since they get my lymphatic system moving and all the 'crud', for lack of a better term, in my body attempts to get itself flushed out. despite feeling a bit sluggish, i went down to pyramids (beach) with the family, plus beth & graham, who departed later in the afternoon. always sad to see them go - it is somewhat symbolic of the end of the festive season each year.

napped the rest of the afternoon, then took bess and abbey down to the beach in the evening.

am now sitting here and excitedly looking forward to date number three with james tomorrow - i know - i let someone get to three dates!? it's totally unheard of lately! but there's something about him that has piqued my interest. nice to have butterflies in my stomach again!

testing. testing. 1. 2. 3.

need to test a longer piece of writing to see what happens on this little journal page i've been messing with here. hmm, does this work? let me see...

success! it does work! i am far from being a html genius, but i'm getting the hang of this coding business. now for a picture of the lovely lisa mitchell rocking a headscarf.

stay tuned for more in 2011!
